Maryland Medicaid EHR Incentive Program
To help improve the quality, safety and efficiency of health care, the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act, or the "HITECH Act" established programs under Medicare and Medicaid to provide incentive payments for the "meaningful use" of certified Electronic Health Record (EHR) technology. The HITECH Act is a part of the federal stimulus package, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The Medicare and Medicaid EHR incentive programs will provide incentive payments to eligible professionals and eligible hospitals as they adopt, implement, upgrade or demonstrate meaningful use of certified EHR technology. These incentive programs are designed to support providers in this period of Health IT transition and to encourage their use of EHR.Maryland Medicaid Meaningful Use Quick Guide
Management Services Organizations (MSO's)
CRISP is working with MSO's that have received a State Designation from the Maryland Health Care Commission (MHCC). MSO's are a resource for any Maryland provider needing technical assistance in adopting Electronic Health Records and achieving Meaningful Use. For primary care providers that meet the eligibility requirements of the program, the technical assistance services are deeply discounted.
ONC Project Tracking
The Office of the National Coordinator maintains this system to provide a collaborative environment for the healthcare industry to implement meaningful use requirements. Here you will find links to the projects, as well as other useful information relative to the topics being discussed. Within each project you will find conversations related to implementing specific meaningful use measures.
State-Regulated EHR Incentive Program – Maryland Health Care Commission
Maryland is the first state to require State-regulated payers to provide incentives to select health care providers (practices) to promote the adoption of electronic health records (EHRs). Incentives are available to primary care practices in Maryland who adopt a certified EHR. The State-Regulated Payer EHR Adoption Incentive Program is separate from the Medicaid and Medicare EHR Incentive Programs.
